You want to be listed where your potential clients are looking, so get listed on your area's on-line directories. Some are free and some are inexpensive, start with those. These can be more effective than search engines for several reasons:
People often return to the places they depend on for results.
In a search engine, they must input the the criterion they are looking for. In a directory they can be "walked through" for all of their needs.
Most of the businesses in the directory share your geographical market and are NOT your competitors. Search engines return results within your industry.

  3. Put it in print • www.your website.com
Put your URL (That's your web address) on everything that leaves your office or store. This includes, but is not limited to, business cards, flyers, letterhead, packaging, greeting cards, products and documents. If you are not ready to re-print business cards, go buy some rubber stamps that say, "visit our new website, www.yourwebsite.com" You see it everyday, now it's time for you to join in the success.   4. Add it to your Ads
If you advertise, make sure it includes your URL. It's the most powerful technique added to the advertising industry. No matter how big your ad is or how long it lasts, each person who sees it will gain the opportunity to find out all that you deliver on the internet. Put it in your yellow page ads. Put it in your newspaper ads. Put it on your sign at the little league field. Put it in your radio and television scripts. Putting your email address in your ads increases its effectiveness only 8%. Putting your website in your ad increases effectiveness by 32%.
